2026 Scout Mountain 100 Race Morning Update

I had fully intended to finish this training log but the fact that I didn’t is definitely reflective of the chaos of my life the past couple of weeks. I moved from Bozeman to Missoula and started two new jobs. The move went well but has just felt like a lot to leave my friends, a good job I worked at for three years, and all my favorite familiar places behind and start over somewhere new. How’s it going? How do I like it so far? Well Twig and I definitely lucked out on signing a lease at a good place with a big back yard but everything else has felt pretty OK. At the end of the day we are super lucky to be living in Missoula especially for education purposes but I certainly would not have left Bozeman if it were not for school. I know I am just adjusting to a different version of normal. I am very excited to be starting a new chapter that will change my future it’s just going to take some time to grow into it. Speaking of … I want to find new running friends in Missoula! Like really bad πŸ™‚

I feel like I’m either very bored with my life and have a lot of extra free time or so busy I don’t even have the time of day to sleep and get everything I want to do done. Since I have moved, life has looked like the latter. Luckily most of my last peak week of training got to take place mostly in Bozeman. Week 18 I definitely hit a Crux. I didn’t feel like running but I still did anyways however I did cut most of my runs shorter than they should have been. I felt completely exhausted and felt like I was never going to bounce back. My peak weeks never got to any crazy high mileage and I feel super okay about it. I’m really proud of myself for listening to my body and not getting over trained like I did last year. I think overall my training for Scout Mountain has shown me how much I have matured as a runner in my ability to take recovery more seriously and also to live my life when training doesn’t go to plan.

Week 19 I did bounce back from my peak and I felt really good on my last “long” run around Missoula. Week 20 I heavily leaned into my taper. I was so ready and excited to taper. I don’t even know how I would have had the time of day to run if it wasn’t taper week! I barely slept all week it felt like. I was simply getting home from work at 10pm or later and then having to wake up early the next day for various commitments. The three days leading up to the race I was traveling to Bozeman, Butte, Salt Lake area, and then finally Pocatello! I would say that I feel more scatter brained than anything about this race. I went to take some trash out of my car yesterday morning and realized I had only eaten half of my lunch from yesterday by accident. Then I was at WinCo making a final grocery store run and started bagging my groceries without even scanning them. Honestly I’m excited to run just so I don’t have to do anything except for run and not think about anything unless I want to. I can check out for a day and enjoy the results of my training.

My friend Tori from Vermont is my crew captain and we spent yesterday catching up about life and going over the plan. I’m so thankful she is here! Michaela B. from Pocatello will be pacing me from West Fork #1 to Gibson Jack and then again for the last 23 miles to bring me up and over Scout Mountain and to the finish line. Michaela also recruited Melissa from Pocatello to pace me for a nighttime section and Kelsey K. From Bozeman stepped up to get her first pacing experience during what I think will be the toughest part of the race for me! She will be with me from City Creek to West Fork #2. Likely in the late hours of the night and early morning.

Overall I fell very confident in the training block I put in, solid about the race plan, and incredibly thankful for the people who are here supporting me and those who have done so along the way! Thanks for being here! I’m ready to run!

This is how you can track me! I am NOT using race joy but you can get text notifications when I cross timing mats at the aid stations

Catch you on the flip side!

Twigs first group run ever with Butte Run Club! I skipped doing my race tune up workout for this and it was great. Savannah is watching her while I race and I’m so thankful and already miss Twiggy so much!
Twig and I have really been loving Blue Mountain five minutes from our new house.
My little Twigger! Pattee Canyon hiking day.
Moving day. We were so sad.
Last long run on the foothills trail. I left a piece of my heart on this trail for sure.
Last time at the M with Megan! I’m going to miss my #1 running buddy! I love you!
