Finished walking in a giant circle around Lake Tahoe on the Tahoe Rim Trail! Totally worth all the extra miles to see this gorgeous trail. The Desolation Wilderness where the PCT overlaps the trail was my favorite part. I got to push some long days and break some personal bests, visit a hiking partner from the CDT who trail angeled me in Reno and be on my own for every single night of the whole trail usually camping with a gorgeous view of the lake. I also saw my first bear! I'm excited to be heading north on the PCT again. 🙂
Thru hiking: Gave me the legs to hike the long miles and hours, but arms so weak that carrying groceries across town makes me sore for a few days. Not sure what's higher anymore, the stoke or my metabolism.
I'm going on a side quest! 🌪️🌀🏔️🌊
In the last 17 days ....
Got to spend a night alone in the Sierra yesterday. This is only the second time I've camped alone on the PCT. I like being around other hikers a lot but getting alone time out here is also super important and valuable to me. There are a lot of people out here for sure but you can always get the alone time when you seek it out. Everyone I camped with the night before headed into town but I continued on. I wanted to go to town but I just couldn't fathom doing anymore off trail miles at this point and I was excited to get to Tuolumne meadows where some new shoes and a resupply box were waiting for me. I stopped early because I was so exhausted but I found an epic spot on a wide rock ledge below the trail and out of sight. Somehow my hair looks great from the brief hot spring soak I got in the middle of the day but I still haven't showered since Bishop six days ago. It definitely feels pretty disgusting since I haven't washed it with shampoo that does anything since.... ??? Enjoying the wildness that this trail can be.
