Day 164
September 25th
East B Road to Bemis Mountain Lean-to
Miles Hiked: 18.8
AT Milage: 1953.9
I slept really well last night. I fell asleep around 9pm and didn’t wake up until 7am. I got ready and got on the trail around 8:30 with the hostel shuttle. Today was a really uneventful day of hiking. It was the first day in a long time that I felt like I kept a good pace and didn’t have any crazy rock climbing. The trail had quite a bit of elevation gain but my legs felt so rested I didn’t mind. I climbed Wyman, Hall, Moody, Old Blue, and Bemis mountain. The trail was really wet, muddy, and slippery. I took quite a few falls today but recovered well. At one point I snapped off the last three inches of my trekking pole and was really sad about it. I’m hoping it’s easy to replace. It just got stuck under a rock and I tried to pull it out the wrong way. I arrived at the shelter just as the sun was setting. I did get out my headlamp but barely had to use it. I was really happy about my timing. At the shelter I camped with Doc, Heather, Pura Vida, and Butt Puppet. A SOBO section hiker had a fire going and it was really nice! He even gave me a sausage sandwich for dinner which was a big treat. I feel really good about how my hike went today, it just wasn’t eventful.
Happy Trails!
